Random Number plugin minimizes the chance of being penalized by Google for having duplicate content in wordpress. This plugin is very simple and also a powerful tool to avoid duplicate content on wordpress, this plugin adds a random number (7 digits, no duplicates) in the URL of the post when save it at first time.

You may think this is something you can get changing the structure of your permalinks in the WordPress control panel, it is true, in a new installation of wordpress you can get a similar effect without having to install this plugin … but what about blogs that already have hundreds of old posts? In my case I found the problem after a year and then it is impossible to modify the permalinks structure to solve the problem and redirect more than 1500 post to a new structure was an option too risky in SEO terms.

Random Number is a non-intrusive plugin, when you activate the plugin you will not notice anything unusual. Your older posts continue to have the same URL structure, as well as the category, pages, archive pages, author pages … etc, etc. Random Number will only affect new publications, simple but powerful … right?

You can see how this plugin works in one of my sites, on this site I’m using the permalink structure /%postname%/ which is the worst decision I could take on a classified site.

Random Number does not work if you use custom taxonomies, you should consider before buying this plugin.
