Email marketing is hard - it's such a specialty that while we have offered simple WPMU mailing list functionality at WPMU DEV Premium - at the end of the day - if you want to do emails seriously, you're going to want to use a professional third party service... and our favorite 3rd party mailing service is MailChimp.

It's what we use at Edublogs to mail almost half a million users, and we couldn't recommend them more highly.

And this is the plugin we use to manage that.

This plugin slots into a WordPress MU or single user WordPress.org blog and allows you to simply login and then select which list you want to add new users to or import existing users to.

You can also decide whether you want to auto opt in users or opt them in automatically (use with care!) for both the new users and import features.

To use:

1. Set up an account with MailChimp
2. Enter your MailChimp account details in your site admin area



3. Configure your newsletter to:

A) Decide whether all new users are automatically added to your newsletter list in MailChimp

B) Import all existing users onto your newsletter list in MailChimp

And you're done.. how cool was that!

TIP:

• You have the choice to make all users automatically be added to the mailing list by selecting Yes in the Auto Opt-in option.
• If you select No the users will be sent an email asking if they want to be added to the newsletter and to confirm by clicking on a link.
