Protect, drip feed, and 'expire' your posts

-NEW Feature: 'Mask publication date' (make a post look like it was published when the user became eligible to see it) (Warning: not yet fully tested; may not work in all cases depending on the setup for your site/blog)

-Restrict certain posts to members only

-Choose how long a member must be signed up for before having access to certain posts

-Choose how long eligible members have before the post 'expires' for them

-Perfect for membership websites/blogs

-Works with most membership site configurations including aMember

-Protect/hide posts from RSS feeds, search results, and direct access from non-members and members who are not eligible to view those posts

What does it do?

This plugin adds some simple options to the 'edit post' section of the admin panel that allow you to restrict a post to members-only, of whom have been signed up for the required number of days, and are within the time period allowed to view the post (before it 'expires') - all specified by you.

Why should I use it?

This plugin is perfect if:

  • You're running or starting up a membership site or blog
  • You want to drip feed certain posts to your registered members
  • You want to deny access to certain posts to non-members
  • You want to 'expire' certain posts on a per member basis

Will it work for my membership site/blog?

When a user signs up they usually get an account with your WordPress site/blog so that they can log in - if this is the case then absolutely yes!

It can also be used if you're using aMember to protect your WordPress site/blog, providing you use the WordPress plugin for aMember as usual.

How does it work?

For each protected post, if the member (or user who is not logged in) does not meet the requirements then the post:

  • WILL NOT APPEAR IN ANY SEARCH RESULTS
  • Will be HIDDEN FROM RSS FEEDS
  • Will return a "Sorry no matches found" error EVEN IF THEY GO TO THE POST DIRECTLY

Example

Say you have a post that you want to make available only to members who have been members for more than 10 days, and for that post only to be available to those eligible members for a maximum of 5 days.

Simply:

  • Go to edit the post
  • Scroll down to the 'Post PDE (Protect, Dripfeed, Expire') section
  • In the 'Protect this post?' drop down box select 'Yes'
  • In the 'Number of days a member must have been a member for, to read this post' drop down box select '10'
  • In the 'Expire this post for members?' drop down box select 'Yes'
  • In the 'Number of days an eligible member has before the post expires' drop down box select '5'
  • You're done!
